Spring (BOF8)

Drama | 13mins | English | 2011

“A young man meets a stranger to indulge in a secret bout of S&M, an experience that will change his life forever.”

Written & Directed by: Hong Khaou
Starring: Chris O’Donnell & Jonathan Keane

Spring verges on sinister. It approaches the fringe of BDSM in an almost light way which makes it tense and uncomfortable. Utilising silence and a great score, tension is built and it acts as a reflection of Joe’s heightened emotions. As the acts of BDSM increase to a point of possible death, the control and dominance peaks until Joe has had enough.  Freaking out he flips and leaves with a smile on his face having, only what I can imagine, found an appreciation for his life.

Things I Liked:
1 - Use of sound
2 - Build up of tension
3 - Unique portrayal of BDSM

Things I Didn't Like:
1 - Not enough character insight
