“Transported to Barsoom, a Civil War vet discovers a barren planet seemingly inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter Woola and a princess in desperate need of a savior.”

… in 1 word:
Unfulfilled.

… in 10 words:
It is such a shame that the marketing failed it.

… in 100 words:
Reviewing John Carter with the knowledge that it bombed at the box office and its marketing sucked may skew my opinion but regardless of those, I would’ve watched it anyway. The film is visually stunning in a strange baron alien way; it’s the antithesis to the lushness of Avatar, but no less appealing. Not knowing the source material, I cannot say if it is faithful or a bad adaptation in that respect, but as a stand alone film, it is on the cusp of being up there with greats but may not shake being tainted by its box office figures.

Now go and watch it…
