Vandalen is a quite gritty; it isn’t bubble wrapped or splashed in pink. The cinematography reflects the tone of the story well, alongside the performances.

Vandalen is anti-social in that it deals with graffiti i.e. anti-social behaviour and that the ‘love story’ goes against what society is telling the characters to do and be. Despite the depressing visual style (which is perfect), it is actually a rather sweet story underneath with a very satisfying ending.
